Day 27:: Ruminations

Orange Sky 27

:: keeping house

Finally bit the budget bullet and purchased our very own couch and loveseat. After years {decades?} of getting hand-me-downs from in-laws and hand-me-ups from our adult children, we have our very own we-chose-it-ourselves set. Woo-hoo! And we’re nearing completion of our kitchen redo. Ernie’s installing new dome lights, plus a pendant light over the sink, and painting.

:: watching

So many old and new seasonal series this year. Really enjoying tried and true VAMPIRE DIARIES, SUPERNATURAL, WALKING DEAD, along with the new THE ORIGINALS, WITCHES OF EAST END, & DRACULA — to name of few. Also, continuing to appreciate PARENTHOOD.

:: listening to

The sound of the children playing outside in some great autumn-ish weather. Not too hot, not too windy, but just right for riding bikes and shooting hoops.

:: giving thanks

For friends who share their own “horrible, terrible, not-to-great” experiences with family and confirm that it’s “not just me.” For a mother and sister who live too far away to have coffee with daily, but are working as hard as I am to get past all the uglies of the past and build relationship.

:: praying for

Coworkers who have suffered the death of loved ones recently and colleagues who have lost their battles with cancer. My daughter who is suffering with bursting varicose veins. For grandchildren who are struggling with a few of their school subjects. And for my husband who is working exceedingly long hours with no immediate end in sight yet.

:: living liturgy

“Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” ~ Job2:10  I’m not one to bring up Satan and his wily ways, but it becomes obvious when he is attacking the foundation of our family unity and messing with relationships by creating internal strife — especially as the  holiday season approaches. Knowing that if we can just share our true feelings and work through them Satan will not succeed in pushing us away from each other. “A threefold cord is not quickly broken.” ~ Ecclesiastes 4:12

:: learning lessons

“The past is always tense, the future perfect.” ~ Zadie Smith  Trying to keep up with both yoga and gym commitments, as well as meditation. Working diligently at embracing the present and accepting that I am, and the people I love are, imperfect and fallible.

:: loving

A lazy Sunday afternoon surrounded by festive Halloween decorations and viewing the Halloween festivities of family & friends on Facebook. Anticipating a chilly fall Sunday evening of comfort food and coziness with my husband.

:: the weed ahead

Starting Tai Chi classes on Tuesday, Preparing for treat giving to goblins and ghouls on Thursday night, while watching Halloween classic movies: HOCUS POCUS, THE LADY IN WHITE, SEVEN. Starting November on Friday and a countdown to Thanksgiving.

What are you ruminating, mulling over, or pondering for the days ahead?
